The Space Age Craze – UFO and Space-Themed Road Stops

It’s officially July 2nd, or World UFO Day, and in 6 days it will be 70th Anniversary of the legendary Roswell Incident.

So what is the die-hard UFO enthusiast to do during the week of the related festivities beyond just America’s Fourth of July?  In line with this Space Age Craze segment,  I looked up just a couple of businesses that cottle to the UFO craze . . .

The UFO Motel – Baker, CA

This is still under construction, but promises to be a great place for UFO fans to visit.

Baker, California also sports having the largest thermometer in the world.

Complete with alien themed hallways, corridors, dining areas, and of course bedrooms, this promises to be a real treat for science fiction fans, and the desert scenery fits in well with all those famous “UFO sighting” folklore stories.

I personally would love to visit this place once it’s complete. I hope everybody else does too!

The UFO Museum – Roswell, NM

The next stop is in the town that started it all.  The UFO museum has many displays and pieces of information regarding the famous Roswell Incident as well as information about other UFO sightings over the years.

Complete with models of various flying saucers, and mannequins of aliens that have been described as having been spotted.

This is also spot I would like to come visit one of these days. It’s interesting take on the question of whether we are alone or not . . . . well actually . . . 😉

The Space Age Motel – Gila Bend, AZ

Finally, the Space Age Lodge is located in Gila Bend, AZ.  It’s a little over an hour to an hour and a half south west of Phoenix.

Here, you will find every room including the lobby, eating areas, and especially the bedrooms with themed images all over relating to space and space flight.

As part of that hotel, there is also a restaurant with the same name attached.

Inside, you will find many items of memorabilia related to space and space flight. Over the dining area, there’s even a large image of the Enterprise from Star Trek.  And once again, like Baker California, the desert scenery adds a lot of atmosphere to the alien and spaceflight folklore that many science fiction fans and spaceflight fans and employees such as myself would love!

For you readers, if you know of any businesses out there related to UFO’s or Space Age themes, please e-mail photos and descriptions to Greatgalacticspacegimmick@gmail.com, and we will post them in the next “Space-Age Craze” column.  Also, if you visit any of the sites here, please send photographs and stories of your experience visiting there and we will make sure that those get posted as well!
