Happy New Year 2020 . . . and The Soaring 20’s πŸš€βœ¨βοΈπŸ’«πŸͺπŸŒ™β˜€οΈ

Happy New Year 2020 from the Great Galactic Space Gimmick! I’m Gimmick Commander Ben Faltinowski, just hanging out with my son and little friends the Earthnaut Colony! We are just southeast of Phoenix, AZ . . . our AZ home!

It’s the start of a new year and decade and it’s been a very busy one (and a very busy end of 2019). My family and I just celebrated our first full year living in the Phoenix, AZ, Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, and Christmas, and we’ve settled into the warmer climate as well as my current efforts πŸš€ to help the Space Program and pursue my Systems Engineering Masters degree with emphasis on Spacecraft and Rocket electrical systems.

We also just celebrated our 8th month in a new home which suits us well. There’s a new Gimmick Command (office) and a dedicated workshop/lab there too that will aid my Masters studies and projects related to The Great Galactic Space Gimmick.

The family’s doing very well. All our children are doing well at school and getting good grades in the STEM subjects. Jessica’s close to having her Masters degree in Nursing while my Masters in Systems Engineering continues. In Phoenix and nearby, we’ve seen an industrial and education focus on aerospace and efforts to explore and settle Space.

In further articles this coming year and decade of 2020, I plan on talking about the various projects I have been and presently am working on to advance it, including Northrop Grumman’s OmegA three-stage rocket launch vehicle and NASA’s Space Launch System (pictured).

The “Soaring 20’s” will be exciting times for the Space Program and we begin to see elements of sci-fi become tangible reality. Both Omega and SLS are slated for their first certification flights and have both worked and am actively working on them.

Inspired by a recent Palomar Mountain visit, I set out to look up the Jovian planets in our solar system in a couple articles written last year with just a small 70mm aperture refractor with a focal length 400mm and 10mm eyepiece (or 40x power). Right now, I’m looking into a larger telescope for the sake of astrophotography starting later in 2020and looking at refractors, reflectors, and compound types.

As for the other columns in The Great Galactic Space Gimmick, I want to have more about Systems Engineering contributions to the Space Program, more about Astronomy (as before), more about Science Fiction’s influence over our Race for Space, and other fun articles. I’ll even add more about Space πŸ’« from skilled artists and my own work too. I promise to continue to make it easy to understand and fun.

One of the largest questions I’m still asked about the blog is, “WHAT IS THE REASON FOR THE EARTHNAUTS?”. This, of course, alludes to the running stories about 8 to 10 little green aliens that come to live with my wife, kids, and I. I have an outstanding article in the works about it . . . and more stories of course, namely in the newest book The Earthnaut Colony.

The Earthnauts (L to R): Chance, Prof. Lagrange, Eli, Oceana, Sneak, Dr. Union, Capt. Echo, and Oracle Medallion

I’ll tell you more soon, but for starters, The Earthnauts is meant to be a live-image comic about a family encountering a group of happy, friendly, and peaceful little aliens from another world who want to learn about Earth and become friends with friendly Humans. They teach kids about science too!

A new landmark for The Great Galactic Space Gimmick as of New Years Day 2020.

All-in-all, The Great Galactic Space Gimmick promises lots of great new articles. So sit back, join the Gimmick ✨ (aka Newsletter), and watch for my latest entries!
