It’s Gimmick Command Periodically once again, and it’s been an interesting week for space and science!
The US House of Representatives have launched an initial motion to spin off the space-related functions of the USAF to form the United States Space Corps. In essence, it would be the orbit-based version of the US Coast Guard. It would still be run and directed by the Air Force, in similar fashion to the Coast Guard coming under the Navy’s lead during times of war. In either case, it’s a very exciting time for space technology.
Perhaps the secret USAF X-37b Space Plane might have (all this time) been part of the plan to form the Space Corps.
Friday June 30th marked Asteroid Day, the day to bring awareness to the threat that rogue asteroids can and will pose to our planet. Movies such as Deep Impact, Meteor, and Armageddon have addressed this issue in popular culture, and it is also would be a function of the newly-formed Space Corps to deal with threats to our planet such as this. It is incredible that our earth has not experienced more of this type of calamity, but it’s been known to happen.
One good example is the Meteor Crater 37 miles east of Flagstaff and 18 miles west of Winslow in the Northern Arizona desert.
Lastly, Sunday July 2nd marks World UFO Day, a day closely affiliated with the Roswell Incident, namely where it is believed a UFO crashed and the US Government, at least symbolically, is alleged to have conducted a coverup.
To this day, many believe we’re not alone in the universe. Do I personally believe this? I do believe that, at least in a parallel/quantum universe that it could be possible. Or maybe . . . 😉
